## Summary

Jason Fried, co-founder and CEO of 37 Signals (makers of Basecamp and Hey), discusses his collection of Lange 1 watches, focusing on the brand's pioneering asymmetrical design and rigorous engineering. He details specific aesthetic choices, such as the off-center dial layout, the use of blued steel hands, and the nonlinear power reserve indicator, explaining how these elements create visual harmony despite their unconventional nature. Fried contrasts the enduring, serviceable nature of mechanical watches with the disposability of modern electronics like the Apple Watch, highlighting the value of objects built to last forever.
