## Summary

Lisa Pierce, Executive Editor for Packaging Digest, discusses the packaging industry's shift from pre-COVID sustainability concerns to immediate hygiene and safety priorities, noting that single-use packaging became essential for consumer reassurance. She highlights the return of the anti-plastics movement and the critical role of the 'How to Recycle' label in managing consumer behavior and recycling stream purity. Pierce also analyzes the economic impact of the pandemic, revealing a surge in job postings for packaging engineers and designers despite initial job disruptions, and predicts that concurrent product and packaging development will become the standard for future pharmaceutical launches.
