## Summary

Marc Sauter, Head of IoT Product Management at Vodafone, explains how businesses should select IoT connectivity by defining use cases, data throughput, and deployment environments. He outlines five key considerations: required services (data vs. voice), data volume (from kilobytes for smoke detectors to gigabytes for software updates), geographic coverage (including deep indoor and roaming needs), reliability/latency requirements, and device management capabilities. Sauter advises starting with small pilots to validate assumptions before scaling and highlights the growing intersection of IoT and AI, particularly in healthcare and manufacturing due to demographic labor shortages.
