## Summary

Keith Basil, General Manager of Edge at SUSE, discusses the critical role of edge computing in industrial IoT, emphasizing the need for scalable, cloud-native infrastructure to manage massive device footprints. He explains how SUSE provides open-source building blocks like Kubernetes and Rancher to help integrators deploy mission-critical solutions in sectors like healthcare, where validated designs and zero-trust security are paramount. Basil highlights the challenges of scaling deployments and the importance of choosing open-source stacks to avoid vendor lock-in and ensure interoperability with legacy systems.
