## Summary

Hardy Schmidbauer, Senior Vice President of IoT at Kudelski IoT, explains the Matter smart home standard, its four pillars of simplicity, interoperability, reliability, and security, and its adoption by major tech and semiconductor companies. He details Kudelski IoT's role as a Product Attestation Authority and emphasizes the necessity of proactive security architecture, threat modeling, and independent validation to ensure device security from the design phase through to market. Schmidbauer discusses Matter's potential to expand from consumer smart homes into industrial IoT and smart building sectors, noting that it leverages existing connectivity standards like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread rather than introducing new radio technologies.
