## Summary

Jim White, CTO of IOTech Systems, discusses the evolution of Industrial IoT and edge computing in 2023, noting a shift from experimental pilots to serious, production-ready solutions. He explains that hyperscalers are adapting their cloud-centric models to better serve edge environments, while companies are moving away from unnecessary AI/ML complexity toward simpler, rule-based analytics for specific use cases. White also highlights the challenges of applying enterprise-grade tools like Kubernetes to resource-constrained edge devices, emphasizing the need for specialized orchestration solutions.
