## Summary

Pilgrim Beart, CEO and co-founder of DevicePilot, discusses the operational challenges of scaling IoT devices, drawing on his experience founding AlertMe (which became Hive). He explains how companies often hit a breaking point around 1,000 deployed devices when manual management fails, necessitating automated service management and observability. Beart highlights the importance of the Matter standard for interoperability and the critical role of IoT in managing decentralized energy systems for climate tech.
