## Summary

Thomas Hollwedel, Co-Founder and Head of Sales at aconno, discusses the critical role of hardware in successful IoT deployments. He explains how aconno bridges the gap between hobbyist tools like Arduino and commercial products by offering a platform of sensors, beacons, and development boards. Hollwedel emphasizes the importance of validating use cases through experiments before committing to custom hardware design, warning against the high costs and risks of full custom builds. He also highlights industry challenges such as the lack of communication standards for sensor data and the need for skilled personnel to help traditional industries adopt IoT.
