## Summary

Jacques Durand and Bassam Zarkout of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) discuss findings from their white paper on developing IIoT pilots, emphasizing the critical need for defining metrics and measurement at every stage of development. They highlight that industrial IoT differs from consumer IoT due to 'brownfield' legacy constraints, safety requirements, and the necessity of cross-functional partnerships involving end customers, vendors, and integrators. The guests advise organizations to separate technology investigation phases from business goal definition to avoid premature commitment to unproven solutions in complex industrial environments.
