## Summary

Mrinal Wadhwa, Co-Founder & CTO of Ockam, discusses the challenges of IoT adoption in smart cities, drawing on his experience deploying large-scale sensor networks at Fiber in San Francisco, Washington DC, and Montreal. He explains how Ockam addresses critical security and interoperability gaps by providing open-source tools for device identity and cryptographic key management using decentralized identifiers (DIDs). Wadhwa argues that the industry must move away from siloed solutions to enable trustworthy, multi-vendor ecosystems for mission-critical infrastructure.
