## Summary

Saranya Dabarak, founder of Code Newbie and a program manager at Microsoft, discusses her transition from organic chemistry and journalism to web development, and the creation of the Code Newbie community to support non-traditional learners. She explains how she built the Code Newbie podcast and meetups to foster connection, emphasizing that coding is accessible to those who are purpose-driven rather than just 'tinkerers.' Dabarak also shares insights on learning strategies, the value of conferences for networking, and her work with Microsoft's Tech Jobs Academy to provide free technical training to underemployed New Yorkers.
