## Summary

Mari Silbey, Senior Director of Partnerships and Outreach at US Ignite, discusses the current state of smart city technology, emphasizing that connectivity is merely the foundation for solving local problems. She highlights specific implementations such as augmented reality training for first responders in Austin and remote microscope access for students in Chattanooga. Silbey also addresses the challenges of funding, data privacy, and cybersecurity, noting a shift toward hybrid public-private models and the potential impact of federal infrastructure bills.
