## Summary

Mark Jules, Global VP of Smart Spaces and Video Intelligence at Hitachi, explains how Hitachi Vantara leverages video as the 'ultimate IoT sensor' to create Smart Spaces across public safety, transportation, and retail. He details the evolution from disparate camera systems to a unified Hitachi Video Suite (HVS) that integrates data from thousands of cameras to drive analytics at the edge, in the cloud, and in data centers. Jules highlights specific applications, including predictive maintenance for rail, space optimization for universities, and economic development in cities like Las Vegas, emphasizing a partnership model with vendors like Arrow and systems integrators. The discussion underscores Hitachi's strategy of combining hardware, software, and AI to deliver end-to-end solutions that address safety, operational efficiency, and business outcomes simultaneously.
